General Information

In accordance with the Oregon Department of Education guidance, Beaverton Schools are preparing for daily, in-person instruction for all students.  Beaverton follows guidance based on the Ready Schools, Safe Learners Resiliency Framework for the 2021-22 School Year.  Families who prefer to continue distance learning will need to contact the FLEX program through BSD or other virtual learning schools outside the district as individual schools will not provide virtual options for families during the coming school year.

The school is open from 8:00am - 4:30pm daily.  To support social distancing requirements, phone or email communication is preferred.  If you need to visit the school in person, you must wear a mask and be prepared to wait outside until staff can assist you.

The single most important thing students can do throughout the year is to READ!  It doesn't matter what they read -- novels, graphic novels, biographies, magazines -- they just need to read as much as possible.  Electronic libraries continue to be available to students throughout the summer.  For ideas how to access books as well as recommendations for book titles, please visit "Summer Reading."

Students may contact the Student Help Desk if your children need help with BSD student devices or applications. Students can email the help desk at shd@beaverton.k12.or.us or call (503) 356-4656 for support. Please visit this link for more information. 

If you need help using the Read/Write app on your Chromebook (which will help your Chromebook read text to you and type words as you speak for a writing assignment), you can watch tutorial videos to get you started.

Family Tool Kit:

Visit the many suggestions for ways to set up a home workspace and learn everything you need to know about Canvas (grades, feedback, calendars, dashboard, etc).  Learn about Dreambox and Webinars and how these are used with students.  This is the first place you should visit if you have questions about how to use the applications for yourself and for students.

Read/Write Application:

Students can use the Read/Write App to help them read text from their Chromebook (it actually reads to them), or write narratives as the Chromebook types words they speak for future editing.  You can watch tutorial videos to help get your student started.

Internet Activity Report:

The Internet Activity Parent Report is a weekly summary of your child's Internet activity while using a BSD managed Chromebook or iPad.  It is sent through email weekly for you to see what time of day students are using the Internet, what sites they are visiting, and any sites they requested that are blocked by the school district.
